1. "Lord of the Flies" by William Golding
Genre: action
Lexile: 770
Reviewer: Mr. Vogt
Summary: Stranded on an island, a group of 13-year old boys must come to grips with the reality of their situation. At first, they pool their talents and work together. As the story progresses, the teamwork breaks down amidst hunting, signal fires and an evil force on the island. The story has many moments of action, however, it also contains many figurative surprises that reveal a great deal about human nature. A plot twist towards the end will leave the reader questioning the action of the group as well as rethinking human nature itself.
